Kahn’s Furniture in Miramar Beach sponsors a different local artist every Friday night from 5-7 PM. Complimentary beer & wine is provided during each “Kahncepts Gallery Night.” Kahn’s Furniture is proud to be featuring artist Karla Kittridge this Friday, August 10, 2018. A percentage of all proceeds will be donated to “Fore Her,” a local charity founded by Amy Walsh benefiting breast cancel patients and survivors.

Kittridge Laine & Company was founded by Karla Kittridge as a passion with a purpose. Her mission was to create nature-inspired pieces for the benefit of others. Through witnessing a series of friends facing breast cancer treatment, she realized there was a need to find ways to pay for unexpected medical

expenses. Not only were her friends experiencing the additional stress

of facing a health crisis, but some were also facing the challenge of how

to make the budget balance at the end of each month. So, she began to search for a way to help those in need.

Eventually, Karla started creating pieces inspired by her visits using acrylics and texture. That was the beginning for Kittridge.

Each art piece is hand designed, with 90% of the materials made in

America. As well as a percentage of sale proceeds contributed to the

local charity, Fore Her. Founder, Amy Walsh, supports women in NW

Florida undergoing breast cancer treatment by providing financial

assistance during their time of medical care.

May those who take home her nature-inspired creations feel the

tranquility and peace instilled into each design. Also, the

satisfaction in knowing you’ve made a difference to a neighbor in need.

Kahn’s Furniture in Miramar Beach sponsors a different local artist every Friday night from 5-7 PM. Complimentary beer & wine is provided during each “Kahncepts Gallery Night.”

Kahn’s Furniture is especially proud to be featuring local legend Harley Van Hyning of Gnarly Fish Prints this Friday, August 3, 2018. Destin VIP Magazine will be covering the event for an upcoming issue.

If you’ve ever taken a fishing charter from Destin Harbor, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Harley in action. Fluent in the Japanese Art, Gyotaku, this laid back surfer is often found lingering on the docks waiting for his inspiration to arrive. Many fishermen and tourists have gone home with an artistic rendition of their catch.

Harley first took an interest in art at a very early age, having a mother that is an artist herself. His mother went to the British Royal Academy of Arts in London and also studied art in Brighton, England. Harley spent most of his childhood watching

his mother paint and it was something that he was immediately draw

n to. Taking art classes growing up, he always enjoyed drawing and painting. Harley claims he was talked out of art school because it wasn’t a wise career choice, but it seems that he was able to overcome that obstacle, making a living for himself doing what he loves.

About the artists:

The Soul Sisters are two best friends… Lisa and Susan. They’ve been friends for more than 30 years, and are truly soul sisters. Susan has a 32-year career in the printing industry, creating her unique art in her leisure time. Lisa spent most of her career in marketing. After moving to Destin in 2006, she began pursuing her lifelong passions of art and photography.

Mermaid Lisa – “…and so, she decided to live the life she’d imagined”

Lisa Wagner Pozza first visited the Gulf Coast area in 1977. She felt so at home at the beach and knew that one day she would make the beach her home. In 2006, she made the first step of her dream a reality by relocating to Destin. With just the necessities in boxes and a semi-reliable vehicle, she drove across the country and started down the path to creating the life that she had only imagined. Inspired by the soft and cool colors of a sandy beach, seashells, and calm emerald water; her artwork is coastal inspired acrylic, painted on a variety of surfaces, canvas, plywood, reclaimed wood, silver trays.

Mermaid Susan – “…I think I love the rain, because I’m a mermaid who lives too far from the ocean”

Susan Garr’s a landlocked mermaid with dreams of living by the sea. She has lived in southern Indiana all of her life. She often visit the beaches of Destin and

South Walton, and has done so for years. She hopes to make this beach her home someday. Inspired by everything mermaid; the bold and bright colors of beach umbrellas on a sunny day, blue

skies, and the wild waves; her artwork is reverse window painting, and features many mermaids (my spirit animal), along with other whimsical stylized designs, and customized family tree art.

“We are excited to bring our work to Kahncepts Gallery Night on June 29th, and hope to see you there!”

“Destin has been my home for over 30 years. I’ve been involved in the arts for many years and love that I am now in a position that I can give back to the community that has been so good to me. That’s why I sponsor local artists and artisans. Kahncepts by Katie Kahn is a collaborative effort. I am fortunate to have a fantastic team of carpenters, welders, painters, and other artists who are patient with me, listen to my ideas and help me turn my visions into something tangible. I learn something from every artist that walks in my door. The creative energy and ideas they bring are contagious. I hope you’ll come catch the creative bug, too. Join me in celebrating some of the most talented artists along the Emerald Coast.

Katie Kahn

Need an even better reason to come? For the remainder of the summer, a percentage of Gallery Night proceeds will be donated to a local charity of the artists’ choice. It’s just another way Kahn’s Furniture is giving back to the community!”
